RASO'S LAST SECOND THREE NOT ENOUGH AGAINST WARRIORS
HAMILTON, Ont. - Victor Raso (Hamilton, Ont.) hit a clutch three-pointer with 4.8 seconds left in the ball game to bring the McMaster Marauders within one. But they couldn't get any closer as the Waterloo Warriors went on to upset the Marauders, 66-63, in an OUA opening round playoff game at the Burridge Gym on Wednesday night.
McMaster third year guard Tyrell Vernon (Hamilton, Ont.) led the Marauders offensively in the loss scoring a game-high 23 points on 9-of-15 (60 percent) shooting from the floor. Raso added 13 points and four assists.
David Burnett (Heidelberg, Ont.) led Waterloo with 18 points. Matt Hayes (Midland, Ont.) added 13 points and nine rebounds while Cam McIntyre (Kitchener, Ont.) also scored in double figures with 11 for the Warriors.
The Warriors will now advance to the OUA West semifinal and travel to Thunder Bay, Ont. to take on the No. 8 nationally-ranked Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday at 7 p.m.
