OUA M-BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: LIONS UPSET NO. 1 RAVENS
The Lions took the lead four minutes into the first quarter and never looked back. The victory was their fourth of the season, raising their record to 4-13, while the Ravens drop to 16-2.
The Lions dominated the Ravens in the first half as they outscored Carleton 17-15 and 24-13 in the opening quarters to take a commanding 41-28 victory into halftime. The Ravens mounted a comeback as they returned in the third quarter and edged the Lions by seven points to close the gap. However, the Lions refused to back down and went shot-for-shot with the Ravens in the final frame for the win.
York rookie Dejan Kravic (London, Ont.) made a strong impression as he led the Lions with a game-high of 22 points, often saving the play with a heroic leap and a tip-in. Fellow rookie Ostap Choliy (Oakville, Ont.) followed Kravic with 18 points and seven rebounds while going six-for-six in free throws and recording a 50 percent average from beyond the arc.
