WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Guelph, 50 @ Windsor, 83 Box Score
The Windsor Lancers Women's Basketball team got a pair of strong performances from senior Raelyn Prince and Morgan Jean en route to a convincing 83-50 victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday night.
The game was a re-scheduled contest that had been postponed due to weather from the previous night.
With the victory, the No. 2 ranked Lancers move to 14-2 in conference play and tied at the top of the OUA West standings with the Western Mustangs.
On Thursday night, Windsor got a double-double from Raelyn Prince and an inspired effort from guard Morgan Jean in the victory over the Gryphons.
Prince, a 5th year senior from Harrow, ON, finished with 11 points on 5 of 5 shooting and 13 rebounds in the win. She was unstoppable on the glass, collecting 8 rebounds in the first quarter alone.
Jean, a transfer from Guelph, was very solid against her former team as she finished with 16 points on 5 of 8 shooting and added 5 assists.
The Lancers built an early 19-8 lead in the opening quarter before the Gryphons cut back into the lead in the second quarter. Guelph outscored Windsor 23-18 in the second frame and trailed by only 6 at the break.
The second half was all Windsor as the home team came out on fire and completed dominated both ends of the court. Jessica Clemencon continued her strong play in the paint as helped the Lancers go on a 24-5 run in the third quarter to put the game out of hand.
Clemencon finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Lancers cruised to the 33-point win.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Brock, 69 @ Western, 70 Box Score
The Western Mustangs held on to beat the Brock Badgers 70-69 at Alumni Hall on Thursday night.
With the win the Mustangs improve to 8-9 on the season as the Badgers fall to 8-9 as well.
Andrew Wedemire led the Mustangs with 22 points, including a perfect 12-12 from the foul line, eight rebounds and three assists. Ryan Barbeau had 18 points on 3-of-4 from three-point range while picking up seven rebounds.
Peter Scholtes and Marcus Barnett were the other Mustangs getting to double figures in scoring adding 12 and 10 points respectively.
The Mustangs got off to a strong start playing tight defence on the Badgers and forcing them to just 3-of-14 shooting for the first quarter. Western held an 18-8 advantage on Wedemire's seven points, including five from the charity strike.
The second quarter went the exact opposite way for the Mustangs. The Badgers tightened up their defensive pressure and foul trouble for Barbeau kept him on the bench for half the quarter. Brock outscored the Mustangs 18-10 in the quarter and the Mustangs went into half with a slim two point lead.
Western and Brock battled back and forth in the third quarter as the teams both got into more of an offensive rhythm. Brock outscored the Mustangs 24-22 in the quarter and the teams were knotted at 50 apiece to enter the final frame.
The fourth quarter came down to the final possession as the Mustangs clung to a lead in the final minute. With the score 67-64 Barbeau went 1-for-2 from the line and Brock's Andrew Kraus drove the lane for a quick two to make it 68-66 Mustangs with 14.9 seconds left.
Brock was forced to foul and Barbeau went back to line and hit both of them to make it a two-possession game at 70-66 with 13.5 seconds remaining.
Kraus hit a three with 6 seconds left to make it 70-69 and Barbeau was sent to the line again and missed both. The ensuing rebound took a few seconds for Brock to corral and they could only manage a half-court shot at the buzzer that fell short.

McMaster, 89 @ Laurier, 97 Box Score
They had been waiting almost a month for another shot at the McMaster Marauders, and on Wednesday they found out they would have to wait one more night for revenge. So on Thursday night the two teams finally took the court, after the game was postponed due to inclement weather the previous night.
Max Allin (Chatham, Ont.) led the Golden Hawks to a 97-89 win with another superb performance, scoring a career-high 28 points. The Hawks had previously lost 72-64 to McMaster on January 5th in Hamilton, in their lowest scoring game of the season. There was no problem putting points on the board on this night, however, as Laurier scored over 90 points for the second straight game.
McMaster looked like the better team halfway through the first quarter, leading 14-5 with Cam Michaud scoring 10 of those 14 points in the first five minutes of play. However, Laurier started making baskets, went on a 21-5 run, and quickly gained a seven point lead before the close of the first quarter. Leading 26-19 going into the second frame, Laurier was unable to separate itself any further from a feisty Marauders team that matched Laurier in the quarter, actually outscoring the Golden Hawks 23-22, giving Laurier only a 48-42 lead at the half.
In the third quarter Laurier pushed its point total past the 64 points they scored in their previous effort against McMaster, and they extended their advantage to nine going into the final quarter with a 74-65 lead. Laurier continued to control the ball-game until McMaster went on an 11-3 run to bring themselves within two points of Laurier with just three minutes left; however that is as close as the Marauders would come, as Laurier pulled back into the lead thanks to Maxwell Allin, who scored 12 points in the last four minutes of play to seal the 97-89 victory.
Laurier held an edge over McMaster in almost every statistical category, out shooting them 44-percent to 43-percent, out-rebounding them 52-38, and tallying 24 assists to McMaster's 17. Laurier's bench also outscored the Marauders 25-8.
In addition to Maxwell Allin's 28 points, he grabbed 10 rebounds and had six assists. Kale Harrison (Stratford, Ont.) also had a strong night, scoring 27 points, while Sharif Wanas (Burlington, Ont.) scored 15. Harrison is now two points away from setting Laurier's single season scoring record set in 1977 by Loren Killion. First year standout Patrick Donnelly (Oakville, Ont.) had eight points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
McMaster was led by Cam Michaud (Grimsby, Ont.) who had a game-high 30 points, while Kenan Etale (Dundas, Ont.) scored 22.

Guelph, 97 @ Windsor, 94 Box Score
The Windsor Lancers Men's Basketball team was defeated 97-94 in overtime by the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday night at the St. Denis Centre.
The game was a re-scheduled contest that was postponed due to weather from the previous night.
With the loss, the Lancers fall to 11-6 in conference play.
On Thursday, both teams came out flat, as evidenced by the 14-13 score in favour of the Gryphons at the end of one quarter.
The second quarter cotninued to remain close as neither team was able to pull away from the other. Guelph led 41-38 at the break.
After half, both teams picked up their offensive production as the game remained close.
With the Gryphons leading 65-60 heading in the final quarter, the Lancers battled back to tie the game late in the quarter.
However, with Guelph leading by 3 with seconds remaining, the Lancers knocked down a deep three to send the game into overtime.
The extra frame was controlled by the Gryphons as they held of the Lancer attack to earn the hard fought 97-94 overtime win.
Isaac Kuon led Windsor in scoring with 39 points while Lien Phillip added 14 points and 9 rebounds.
