OBA WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Ontario Basketball (OBA) is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Michael Cvitkovic to the position of Executive Director. A native of Cambridge, Ontario, Cvitkovic was a member of the Toronto Raptors Basketball Club media relations team for six seasons; which included public relations work at the 2004 NBA All-Star Game, three NBA playoff series and four NBA drafts.
“We are honoured and thrilled to have Michael join our organization,” said Ken Urbach, President of Ontario Basketball. “With his proven leadership, wide range of skills and vast experience in sport, the Board of Directors is confident that Michael will lead basketball in Ontario to new heights.”
Cvitkovic brings a wealth of experience in sport and the not-for-profit sector to OBA, including five years as the director of communications and media relations for Tennis Canada and the Rogers Cup. Prior to his time in professional sports, Cvitkovic served as the first sports information director at York University.
“I am honoured to be given this responsibility and excited about helping unleash the potential of basketball in our province,” said Cvitkovic. “I look forward to working alongside our visionary Board of Directors, talented staff, Canada Basketball and other passionate OBA stakeholders in supporting our strategic priorities and providing the best possible service to Ontario Basketball members.”
Michael will begin his new role with Ontario Basketball on January 24, 2011.
