PIONEER PETROLEUMS OUA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
HAMILTON, Ont. – The following student-athletes have been named Pioneer Petroleums Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending January 9, 2011.
Each Pioneer Petroleums OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a $25 gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Petroleums.
MALE: Patrick Donnelly, Laurier Golden Hawks, Basketball
Patrick Donnelly, a rookie post player, scored 41 points this week and picked up 27 rebounds as the Golden Hawks split against McMaster and Waterloo. In the eight-point loss to McMaster on Wed., Jan. 5, Donnelly netted nine points and added 12 rebounds. Later in the week he added his fourth double-double of the season with a personal best 32-points and 15 rebounds in the 114-82 win on Sat., Jan. 8. The first-year Arts major is now second on the team in points with 160, shooting 77% from the field.
FEMALE: Hanna Koposhynska, Queen’s Gaels, Basketball
Hanna Koposhynska of Toronto, had the best game of her Gaels career Saturday night as Queen’s picked up their third win of the season over the York Lions. The second-year environmental studies student finished the game with 20 points on 9 of 14 shooting from the field as the Gaels defeated York on the road by a score of 71-62. Koposhynska also pulled down five rebounds in the game, adding to the 11 rebounds she recorded the night before against Laurentian. Her previous OUA game-high was eight points against RMC a year ago.
