PATRIOTES DRAW FIRST BLOOD AGAINST STINGERS IN MEN'S HOCKEY
Felix Petit and Olivier Donovan both scored a pair of goals for the victorious Patriotes. Game 2 will take place at Concordia's Ed Meagher Arena on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Stingers grabbed an early lead when George Lovatsis scored on the power play 7:18 after the opening face-off. That lead was short-lived as just over four minutes later, Guillaume Chicoine scored a power play marker of his own. The game remained 1-1 through the first intermission.
Pierre-Alexandre Joncas gave the Patriotes their first lead of the game 7:16 into the second period. But near the end of the period, Marc-André Element pulled the Stingers even. But before the period came to a close, Petit scored his first goal with 26 seconds remaining to give UQTR a lead it would not relinquish.
It was all Patriotes in the third. Petit scored his second on the power play, and Donovan scored consecutive goals to close out the contest.
The Stingers are in a must-win situation on Friday night. If Game 3 is necessary, it will be played Sunday at Le Colisee at 2 p.m.
