MALE: Jim Watt, Windsor Lancers, Hockey
The fourth-year business major back stopped the Lancer men's hockey team to a weekend sweep over the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves. In the Lancers 5-1 win Friday night, Watt made 37 saves, and then turned around on Saturday to earn his first shut-out of the season making 42 saves in the 3-0 win. Watt, an Edmonton, Alberta native, registered an outstanding 0.987 saves percentage for the weekend, making 78 of 79 saves over two nights.
FEMALE: Katya Herman, Queen’s Gaels, Rowing
The Sudbury, Ontario native captured a pair of gold medals this past weekend for the Queen’s women’s rowing team at the Brock Invitational Regatta. Herman, a kinesiology major, won the lightweight women's single event crossing the line with a time of 8:14.2. Later in the day, she would secure the heavyweight single event with a time of 7:58.9.
