PIONEER PETROLEUMS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
HAMILTON, Ont. – The following student-athlete has been named Pioneer Petroleums Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 27, 2011.
Each Pioneer Petroleums OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a $25 gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Petroleums.
MALE: Maxime Langelier-Parent, McGill Redmen, Hockey
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound forward was McGill’s leading scorer and earned a berth on the all-tournament team at the CIS men’s hockey championship in Fredericton, NB. A 23-year-old economics junior, Langelier-Parent tallied three points in three games, helping the Redmen reach the finals for the first time in school history, where the team finished with a silver medal. Langelier-Parent scored twice and was named as McGill’s player of the game in a 6-3 win over Alberta on Saturday. He also added an assist on the game-winning goal, midway through the third period of Thursday’s 2-1 victory over St.FX. A product of the QMJHL’s Gatineau Olympiques, he also played for and attended College Francais prior to joining the Redmen in 2008.
