NEW JERSEY DEVILS PROSPECT CAMP ATTENDEE DOUG CLARKSON JOINS LAKERS
Clarkson, a 6-foot-5, 224 pound right wing from Mimico, Ont. started off his junior career in the OHL playing with the Kitchener Rangers and Erie Otters. He finished his junior career playing for the Vaughan Vipers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, notching 38 goals and 53 assists in 46 games.
"I am thrilled that Doug has decided to come to Nipissing and play for the Lakers," said Mike McParland, Lakers head coach, who actively recruited Clarkson this year. "With his size and offensive capabilities, he'll make an immediate impact on our team."
"I am very excited to join the Lakers," said Clarkson. "It's a great city and an excellent university and I'm looking forward to helping the team and getting involved in the community. I am confident that the university, the team and the community together will bring success to North Bay and I am excited to be a part of that success."
David Clarkson is supportive of his brother's decision to play with the Lakers. "The Nipissing Lakers were rated in the CIS Top 10 and made the playoffs in the first year, which generated a lot of attention in the hockey world," he said. "With Doug's size and skill, he will add a valuable dimension to the team. I am very proud of my younger brother and look forward to following the team's progress."
