PIONEER PETROLEUMS OUA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
HAMILTON, Ont. – The following student-athletes have been named Pioneer Petroleums Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending February 20, 2011.
Each Pioneer Petroleums OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a $25 gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Petroleums.
MALE: Keaton Hartigan, Waterloo Warriors, Hockey
Third-year goaltender Keaton Hartigan registered back-to-back shutouts to lead his Waterloo Warriors to a sweep over the Lakehead Thunderwolves in OUA west quarter-final action. Hartigan was nothing short of spectacular in both games stopping all 62 shots faced. In the series opener, Hartigan made several key saves early on to keep the game scoreless. The Warriors would take the game by a score of 5-0 with Hartigan stopping all 27 shots. The second game of the series saw the Kitchener, Ont. native once again stand on his head stopping all 35 shots faced including 18 third period saves. Waterloo would add two late goals to blank Lakehead 3-0. Hartigan’s performance led to Lakehead's exit from the first round of playoffs for the first time in 10 years.
FEMALE: Hannah Sunley-Paisley, Ottawa Gee-Gees, Basketball
Fourth-year centre Hannah Sunley-Paisley owned the Carleton Ravens on Saturday night when they visited Montpetit Hall. In the Gee-Gees come from behind 72-68 overtime victory, the Toronto native finished with 25 points and an astounding 22 rebounds. She did not only punish the Ravens on the board, but also with her accuracy at the free throw line, going 15 for 17. Sunley-Paisley finished the regular season fifth among OUA scoring leaders with 15.91 points per game, and led the league in rebounding with a total of 253 rebounds in 22 games (11.5 RPG).
