NIPISSING ADDS FORMER P.E.I. ROCKET TO LINE-UP
McKinley, a 6-foot-4, 210 pound left wing from Fredericton, played most of his junior career with the Prince Edward Island Rockets of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he played 135 regular season games over three seasons, amassing 16 goals and 19 assists. He finished his junior career playing for the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League, notching 13 goals and 47 assists in 50 games.
"I am thrilled that Lucas has decided to study at Nipissing and play for the Lakers," said Mike McParland, Lakers head coach. "His size and major junior experience will be a great addition to the team."
"I am very excited to join the Lakers," said McKinley. "It's going to be fun playing in front of a loud and supportive home crowd. I am confident that I can draw upon my major junior hockey experience to make an immediate impact on the team and to help generate more offence."
The Nipissing Lakers hockey team had a very successful inaugural season. The Lakers were third in the country for fan attendance, ranked nationally for two consecutive weeks and made the playoffs.
