GEE-GEES MEN'S HOCKEY TEAM GETS COMMITMENT FROM HIGH-END RECRUIT
The 21-year old blueliner from Hull, Que. is a significant signing for the Garnet and Grey.
"Dominic represents the ideal student-athlete for our program at uOttawa," said Gee-Gees head coach Dave Leger.
"I expect that Dominic will be a dominant student in the classroom and on the ice at the University of Ottawa, we are very excited to have him join the Gee-Gees family and look forward to seeing him in on the ice in the fall."
Jalbert recently completed a four-year Quebec Major Junior Hockey League career with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Jalbert was Chicoutimi's leading scorer this past season with 14 goals and 49 assists for 63 points in 68 games, excluding playoffs.
The six-foot, 185-pound rear-guard was awarded the 2009-2010 Marcel Robert Trophy as the league's scholastic player of the year while studying nature sciences at the Cégep de Chicoutimi.
He was one of five finalists for the same award in 2008-2009.
In four seasons with Chicoutimi, Jalbert registered 33-98-131 points in 228 regular season matches. In 21 post season games Dominic had 1-13-14 points.
"I'm very happy to enrol at the University of Ottawa and play hockey for the Gee-Gees. I think it will be an amazing experience," said Jalbert.
"I chose uOttawa because I'll have the opportunity to come back home to my family and friends. I spent the last four years in Chicoutimi and wanted to come back to Gatineau. The University of Ottawa is a very good school and I heard a lot of good things about its bachelor of commerce program."
"I will train hard this summer to be ready for the season and help the Gee-Gees to be a good team in this league for years to come."
