RAVENS ADD ANOTHER GENERAL TO MEN'S HOCKEY LINE-UP
"His work ethic is second to none and he has a dedication to the game that is exhibited in every shift he is on the ice," said Ravens head coach Fred Parker. "He will look real good with the Raven on his chest."
Parker added that Taylor's mental and physical toughness will be great additions to his team.
"I think I can…be a player that is hard to play against, get under the skin of the other team and put up points as well," Taylor said. "I've always been a leader so I will try to continue that for the 2010-11 season."
After the Gens picked him 71st overall in the 2005 draft, the Kitchener native played five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. He split this season between Oshawa and Belleville, scoring 11 goals and adding seven assists for 18 points in 62 games.
Earlier this year, Generals captain Jeff Hayes made the decision to join the Ravens for the upcoming season. The two have played together since they were 17.
"It will be awesome to keep our friendship going," said Taylor. "It will be nice to have an old friend in the dressing room."
While each student-athlete faces the difficult task of balancing school and sports, Taylor said he is looking forward to the challenge and is excited to begin a new chapter in his life at Carleton.
"I've just heard a lot of good things about the city of Ottawa in general, but hearing about how strong the hockey program was really made things easier on me when picking a school," he said. "I can't wait to get started with the season."
