PIONEER PETROLEUMS OUA ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
HAMILTON, Ont. – The following student-athletes have been named Pioneer Petroleums Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Athletes of the Week for the period ending January 30, 2011.
Each Pioneer Petroleums OUA Athlete of the Week will receive a $25 gift card and a dri-fit T-shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Petroleums.
MALE: Landon Lavictoire, Royal Military College Paladins, Hockey
RMC hockey player Landon Lavictoire enjoyed a memorable weekend in what has been a difficult season for the RMC men’s hockey team. On Saturday evening, the forward from of Kirkland Lake, Ont. scored the overtime winner in a 3-2 victory over the visiting Ryerson Rams. Lavictoire followed that up with his second consecutive game-winning goal, along with two assists, in a 4-3 win against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday afternoon. The goal against Toronto came with just over five minutes left to play in regulation time. Lavictoire, in his third season with the Paladins, has 27 points (9 goals, 18 assists) in 25 games this season.
FEMALE: Autumn Mills, York Lions, Hockey
York hockey player Autumn Mills recorded six points in two games this weekend as the Lions defeated both Western and Windsor on the road. The third-year forward from London, Ont., had an impressive showing in her hometown with five points in a 6-4 win over the Mustangs, including a hat trick and the winning goal at 9:33 of the third period. The following day she assisted on the second goal in a 3-2 overtime victory over the No. 9 nationally-ranked Lancers in Windsor. Mills is now second in team scoring with 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) this season.
